Content

Content is complete and accurate and offers new ideas. The discussion is well supported with details that explain the participant's conclusions. Content encourages further discussion on topic. All criteria or categories are addressed and the organization of the final posting shows this distinction.

Content is complete and accurate, but lacking in new ideas, or there may be cases in which an opinion is presented without supporting facts or references. Content generally doesn't invite further discussion or investigation.

Ideas are incomplete or inaccurate, or there are two or more opinions presented without supporting facts.

Critical Thinking

Clear evidence of critical thinking (application, analysis, synthesis, and evaluation) and application to the topic. Postings are characterized by originality and relevance to the topic.

Some critical thinking evident, but posting may not directly address the issue. Little relevance to the topic.

Lacking critical thinking. Postings tend to address peripheral issues. Generally accurate, but with omissions or clear recitation.

Timeliness

Participant’s involvement is completed entirely within the required timeframe.

Participation is too late to be of value to other learners.

No participation within the required timeframe.
